Hi, I’m Evelyn — better known in fandom circles as The Comic Canary.
I’m a third-generation nerd who turned a lifelong passion for comics, fantasy, and science fiction into a career as a Professional Nerd. I grew up surrounded by stories, dice rolls, and character sheets. My dad and his friends played Dungeons & Dragons weekly, and while I was too small to remember it, I was there from the beginning — literally at the table. And honestly, I never really left it.
Since then, I’ve become a professional Dungeon Master, a cosplayer competing in the Master’s Category, and a writer and speaker for fan culture publications, conventions, and panels. I’ve also managed several comic shops and built a career immersed in the fandom worlds that raised me.
Outside of the con floor, I hold a degree in Biology with focuses in marine biology, chemistry, statistics, and oceanography, and I currently work in wildlife and environmental conservation and education. Whether I’m leading a campaign or educating others about ecosystems, I’m driven by curiosity, creativity, and a love for stories—both imagined and real.
